A Master’s Choice: Scorsese’s Favorite Horror Movies

One of the many cool things about Martin Scorsese is that he’s a raging, screaming film buff.  The man has seen everything.  It’s a wonder that he finds time to make his own films.

Anyway, the folks at DailyBeast.com asked Scorsese to recommend some good horror movies.  Here’s what he turned in:

  1. The Haunting (1963)
  2. Isle of the Dead
  3. The Uninvited
  4. The Entity
  5. Dead of Night
  6. The Changeling
  7. The Shining
  8. The Exorcist
  9. Night of the Demon
  10. The Innocents
  11. Psycho

Perfectly timed, as I haven’t finalized my horror movie watching yet.  I haven’t heard of most of these , but you can bet I’ll be at my local video store trying to grab what I can for this weekend!

A Bad Week for Scientology

Holy POOT.

First of all, I had no idea that director Paul Haggis was a Scientologist at all, let alone one for thirty-five years.  Bravo to him for standing up against Proposition 8 and the CoS’s support of it.   My usually reliable Hollywood gossip sources are saying that Haggis’s daughter is a lesbian, and thus this has been coming for a while.

Guess that means the countdown to Fair Gaming starts…. now.  Or is Haggis a candidate for an R2-45 audit?

Meanwhile, in a blow supporting religious freedom everywhere, a French court has found the CoS guilty of fraud.  And high time, too.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the CoS isn’t a religion. It isn’t a cult. It’s a Ponzi scheme masquerading as a church. The sooner they’re shut down, the better for all the religions that really want to help people.
